大地震と津波（11） tremendous earthquake and tidal wave(tsunami) (11)

 あの大地震で、震源から４００ｋmも離れた我が家の灯篭の頭が落ちたことを、この大地震と津波（1）で紹介しました。
In my blog I wrote that head of Stone lantern of my house fell down by that earthquake although my house was 400km far from epicenter.

 余震が続いたので、復旧は一年後に行いました。なんと４人ががりで持ち上げました。如何に復旧が大変かの例を身近に見せてくれました。（こんなことで大変などと言ったら被災地の人に怒られますが）
I mended it one year after because many aftershocks continued on this year.
It was necessary 4 workers to put it on the top. I realized it is very hard work to restore a damage. (Of course victims of the stricken area are very angry when I say it is hard work about such little thing.)

一年ぶりに元通りになった灯篭です。豊後梅の咲きかたを見ても、今年の冬が寒かったことがわかります。この日の夜にかなり強い余震があってヒヤッとしました。
The stone lantern recovered as it used to be after one year. The flowers of Bungo plum showed this winter colder than last year.
I shuddered from the strong aftershock of that night.

「日本火山の会」のミーティング（ヴォルケーノ・カフェという名前です）で、裏磐梯にある磐梯噴火記念館の副館長さんの佐藤さんから、被災地を回った報告がありました。
Mr.Sato, deputy director of the Memorial Hall of Mt.Bandai Eruption at the back side of Mt. Bandai in Fukushima Pref.,reported his tour around the Tsunami stricken area in the meeting of "Japan Volcano lovers Club"(named Volcano Cafe)"

被災から８か月も経過していましたが、復旧はその努力にもかかわらず、まだまだという写真がたくさんありました。

These photos was taken 8 months after since then, but these showed us that they have not be recovered well in spite of many people's hard work.

津波がいかに高かったかを如実に物語っています。
これらを、保存しようという意見と、見るたびに思い出すから早く撤去してほしいとという意見があります。佐藤さんは保存したほうがいいという意見でした。私も同じです。しかし、直接被害にあって、肉親、友達、財産を失った人々にそれを主張する自信はありません。
あえて言えば、広島の原爆ドームが保存され、世界遺産になって原爆の恐ろしさを全世界に訴えているという意義が、繰り返し悲惨な思い出を新たにされる被爆者の辛さの上に成り立っていることを、想起しなければならないということなのでしょうか？
They shows us how high the Tsunami was.
There are two opinions about those. One is that these must be reserved for a reminder, the other is that those must be remove quickly because they recall serious memories.
Mr. Sato and I have former opinion, but we cannot insist this to the people who lost blood relatives, friends and property actually.
If I must say something, The Atomic Bomb Dome at Hiroshima was registered World Heritage and has be stressing the cruelty of nuclear weapon. It has a very big meaning. But we don't forget the sacrifice of A-bomb victims who remind severe memories every time when they saw this.

心臓の手術を受けられ、退院後わずか１週間にも関わらず、追悼式に出席され「子孫に語り伝えよう」とおっしゃった天皇陛下の言葉にもある重さを感じます。
His Majesty the Emperor said "We have to pass this story down from generation to generation" at the celemony held in one year memory of this Disaster. Majestly was operated on for heart and he attended this only 1 week after getting ouf of the hospital.

この残骸をどう処理するかは、大きな問題になっています。いくつかの市町村が、引き受けの名乗りを上げてくれました。
I is very big problem how to dispose such huge amount of bebris, some of them were exposed to radiation from the broken nuclear power plant. Some cities and towns accepted these.
新聞によると、２０万トンタンカー２０隻分のがれきが、今太平洋を漂っていて２０１６年にはハワイの海岸に流れ着くそうです。
そういえば、ハワイ島の最南端サウス・ポイントには、いつも大量のごみが流れ着いていました。北朝鮮のハングル語が書かれたものが多くみられ、あの辺で投棄されると、ここにつくということを実証しています。ただ、これらのごみとはスケールも違えば、住民のかけがえのないものが含まれているため「敬意をもって取り扱うように」と呼びかけてくれているそうです。
According to the newspaper, same amount of 20 supertankers of 200thousand tons debris are floating in Pacific Ocian now, and will be arrived at Hawaii at 2016.
When I went to the southern most place of Big-Island, South-Point, I saw big acmount of garbage on the beach.  Hungul alphabet of North Korea were written on many of them. It means if the things were thrwon arround there, they reach Hawaii.
Of cource, the debris of this time are much, much more. And they said treat them with respect beacause those are most precious for the victims.

大川小学校では、７４名の児童（全児童の７０％に当たります）と１０人の教職員が死亡、行方不明になりました。彼岸で子供たちを救うお地蔵様と此岸（この世）で子供たちを楽しませたドラえもんやサンタクロースの人形が涙を誘います。
At Ookawa Elememtary School 74 students (about 70% of all) and 10 teachers and staffs were dead or missing.
On this monument there are Ojizousama(a deity of children) who guards children in the next world and dolls of Doraemon and Santa Claus who pleased children in this world. Looking at this We cannot hold back tears.

大地震と津波（9） tremendous earthquake and tidal wave(tsunami) (9)

 私は最近、「日本火山の会」という主としてネットで情報交換をしている会に参加しました。（http://kazan-net.jp/) 　そこのネットワークを通じて、宮城県の塩釜市に住む谷口さんという方から次のようなメールが入ってきました。（写真は塩釜港１６時）
「先ほど、塩釜市、七が浜町、仙台市など五か所の海岸で、鎮魂のための花火が次々と打ち上げられるのを１１階の自宅のベランダから見ていました」
Recently I joined a "Volcano Lover's Club" (http://Kazan-net.jp/ Japanese only but many beautiful photos in it.) which  mainly exchanges information about volcano through Internet.
We received a mail from Mr.Taniguchi who is a member of this club and is living at Shiogama city, Miyagi Prefecture.
"A short while ago I saw fire works for requiem of victims of tsunami launching from the 5 beaches such as Shiogama-city, Shichigahama-town and Sendai-city. I saw them from the veranda of my house of 11th floor."

「昨年の今頃は、津波による車や建物などの残骸が残る暗闇の中に、仙台港の石油精製基地が爆音を立てながら赤々と燃え上っているのを思い出しました。」
"At this time last year I was seeing the fire with explosions of the oil refinery factory at Sendai Port in the darkness and there were so many wrecks of buildings and cars around my house."

「また自宅近くにあるJRの駅の広場には、津波で流されてきた車が暗闇の中でライトを点灯したまま警笛を鳴らし続け、その音が今でも耳から離れません」

"At a square in front of a station there was a car carried by tsunami lighting the lamps and blowing horn all the time in pitch-dark of blackout.I cannot forget that sight and sound."

「なり続ける車の警笛」、瀕死の車の悲鳴とも多くの犠牲者への弔いのサイレントも聞こえるような、、、何とも言えなく悲しい状況を一言で描写されているように感じ、このブログへの転載をお願いしたところ、快諾していただき、写真も送ってくださいました(この写真はすべて谷口さんからのものです）
"Continuing horn sound "  As if it was a scream from the dying car or a siren of condolence for victims. I felt this sentence express such miserable situation in one word, so I asked Mr. Taniguchi to use his sentence on my blog. He accepted and sent these photos.
一年を迎える３月に入って、私のブログの津波の記事に対するアクセスが世界各地から急増しました。そこで、もう少し津波の記事を書こうと思っています。
This March, the first anniversary of the Earthquake, the accesses to my blog about Tsunami were a rapid increase from many countries of the world. So I am thinking to write about Tsunami more.

白馬に乗った子ども child sitting astride a white horse

 郊外をドライヴしていたら、白馬にまたがって歩いている子どもに出会いました。傍に誰かがついているわけではなく、また気負ったところも一切ありませんでした。いつもながらのことという感じ。
When I drove a suburb of Hilo town I met a little child sitting astride a big white  horse. No one was beside him and he did not get exciting, because it was usual way.

写真を撮らせてくれと頼んだら、いいよ！と立ち止まってくれました。歳を聞いたら小学三年生だそうです。
I asked him to take picture of him. He said OK and stopped for a little while. He was in the 3rd year of elementary school.

このおじさん何を驚いているのだろうと言わんばかりの態度で、後も振り返らず帰っていきました。ハワイ島って！！
He returned to his house without looking back, as if he said what was astonished this man. What a Big-Island!!

ナニマウ・ガーデン Nani Mau Gardens

ヒロの郊外に、完璧に手入れされた植物園、ナニマウ･ガーデンがあります。
There is a well kept garden, named Nani Mau Gardens, at the suburb of Hilo.

入園料は１０ドル、大阪弁でオバサンが案内するトラム･ツアーもあります。トラムとランチのパッケージは２２ドル。
Entrance fee is $10. It has a tram tour with the guide of elder lady who speaks with Osaka accent. $22 for tram tour and lunch.

ここの最大のお客は、日本人のツアーだそうで、現地のガイドブックによると、日本人は庭園に関しもっとも気難しい人々だそうです。
According to the guide book of this place, the most of their business comes from Japanese tour. They are fussy about gardens.

向こうに見える白い建物でのガーデン･ウェディングは地元の人々の大人気。
The white pavilion is the most favorite place for wedding among the local people.

いろいろな果物もなっています。これはノニ。このジュースは高血圧、糖尿病にいいそうですが、道に落ちて踏まれると、ものすごい悪臭を放ちます。
There are so many kinds of fruit in this garden. This is Noni, its Juice is good for Hypertension and Diabetes, but its smell is extraordinary bad when it is trampled on the road.

 キャノン・ボール・フルーツ（大砲の玉）。ファーマーズマーケットで試食しましたが、買おうとは思いませんでした。
Cannon ball fruit. I ate it at farmers market but I never intended to buy it.

ソーセージ･ツリー。これは食べたことありません。
Sausage tree. I have never eaten it.

見事なトーチ･ジンジャー。

Excellent Torch Ginger.

びっしりと花をつけた巨木。（名前を調査中です。分かる人がいたら、コメント欄で教えてください。）
半日はタップリと楽しめるところです。
The big tree with so many flowers. ( I am investigating its name now. Some one knows it please tell me at Comment Column)
Anyway we can enjoy here in half a day.

さとうきび列車 Sugar Cane Train

マウイ島のもっとも賑やかな観光地、カアナパリとラハイナを昔の蒸気機関車を復元した さとうきび列車が走っています。往復＄１5、約一時間の旅です。
Between Ka'anapali to Lahaina, the most crowded towns in Maui, there is a railway and steam locomotive that is restored the old sugar cane train is running. $15 and 1hour for round trip.

１９４３年型の蒸気機関車を改造した、石炭を焚く本格的なもので、約８ｋほどの距離を走ります。スターフルーツという星型をした果物を振舞ってくれます。「チップはマハロ・・・ありがとうと」いう表示もアットホームな感じです。
It is burning coal typical steam locomotive, remodeling 1943 model. It runs about 6miles. We can eat a Star Fruit, asterisk shape fruit, flee. There is a message "Tips Mahalo-thank you-"

ゴルフ場の中を走り、
Run through the golf course,

海岸沿いをラナイ島を見ながら走り、（もちろん車に追い越されます）
Run beach side seeing Lanai Island, the cars passed me by, of course.

ブーゲンビリアが生い茂った道を走り
Run by the road with many bougainvillea trees,

橋の上で蒸気を放出して 喜ばせてくれます。
It pleased us by spewing out lot of steam on the bridge.

そして終点では、ターンテーブルで方向転換して戻って行きます。なんともいえずノスタルジックで、幸せを感じさせる列車でした。
At the terminal station it turns on the turn-table and go back. It gives us kind of nostalgia and happiness.

ハレアカラ国立公園（2） Haleakala National Park（2）

カル･ウ･オカ･オー･オーという名(棒を突っ込んで開けた深い穴の意味）のスコリア丘までの往復約６キロのトレッキングをしました。途中ほとんど植物はなく、ただ銀剣草というハワイ固有の絶滅危惧種がこの不毛と思われる土地に生えています。
この草はマウナ･ケアのビジターセンターでも見ることができます。かってそこでセンターが栽培した苗を配り、それを植えるイベントを行っていました。丁寧に植えて次に行ったときわかるように、百円玉を傍においておきました。でも、残念ながら枯れていました。生き残っていたのは十本に一本ぐらいだったでしょうか。もちろん百円玉は回収してきました。
I went to the cinder cone named Kaluu O Ka O'o( it means "deep hole made by sticking pole) about 4ml.hike to go and back. There was no plant on the way except Silversword. They can survive in this waste land and they are endemic and endangered.
 We can see them at the visitor center of Mauna Kea. Center once held a event to distribute young Silverswords which were cultivated and plant around the center. I planted it carefully and put 100yen coin beside it for I could recognize it when I would come here next time.
But too bad it was dead. Only 10% of them alive. Of course I withdrew the coin.

この奥はカオラウ･ギャップという切れ目で、かって溶岩が流れ出ていった場所です。
The back of this picture was Kaolau Gap, once the lava flowed out here.

 色合いといい肌合いといい、そんじょそこらには無いきれいなスコリア丘です。
They are extremely beautiful cinder cones of their color and smooth surface

画面をクリックして拡大するとトレイルが見えると思います。これはカウポ・ギャップ(雲があるところ）から海まで下りています。途中山小屋があって一泊二日のコースです。我々の帰り道で、素敵な女性のバックパッカーにすれ違いました。一人です。暗くなるまでには山小屋につけるといっていました。もしそこに誰も泊まる人がいない、否、男一人しかいなくても怖くないですかと聞いたら、気にしないといって笑っていました。
If  you crick this picture to enlarge it you can see the trail that goes through Kaupo Gap (another gap it is covered with cloud in this image) and goes down to sea. There is a cabin and we need two days to go to sea. On the way back I met a attractive lady backpacker. She was alone and said she could reach the cabin until dark. I asked her if  you stay alone, no!,with one man don't you feel scare? She said with a smile she dose not mind.

カル・ウ・オカ・オー・オーの火口です。 深い蟻地獄です。右奥の山の裾野がカウポ･ギャップです。ここから溶岩は海まで流れ込みました。
It is the crater of Kaluu O Ka O'o. It looks like deep nest of doodlebug. The foot of right side mountain is Kaupo Gap. From this gap the lave flowed to the sea.

もう一度スコリア丘を見てください。
Please watch the cinder cones again.

反対側は、侵食された火山が、カルデラ壁のように見えます。地層がこの山の歴史を語っているのでしょう。 ゴジラとか鰐とかが見えますか？
Opposite side is the cliff of eroded volcano, It looks like Caldera wall. Strata tell the history of this volcano. Can you see Godzilla and alligator in this cliff?

頂上のレッド・ヒルから見たハワイ島です。左がマウナ・ケア（4205m)、右がマウナ・ロア（4169m）です。ロアに注目してください。典型的な楯状火山で、5000m以上の深海から積みあがり、しかもこのなだらかさですから、世界一の高さと体積がある山です。
It is Hawaii Island seeing from the summit, Red Hill. Left side is Mauna Kea(13,796') and right is Mauna Loa (13,677') Pay attention Mauna Loa, it is a typical shield volcano, it heaped up from 18,000' depth of sea base. It's gentle slope indicate it has tremendous volume. Yes! it is the highest and most massive mountain in the world.
