カウアイ島（6） カウアイ ビーチリゾート ホテル Kauai Island (6) Kauai Beach Resort Hotel

カウアイ　ビーチリゾート　ホテル（地図12）で今回初めて（にして最後の）ちゃんとした朝食、ベーコン・エッグスを食べました。
 It is the first time (and the last time)in this trip to take a typical American break fast(bacon and eggs)at Kauai Beach Resort Hotel. (Map12)

カウアイ島は野生の鶏が至る所にいて、シンボルになっています。ひなを連れた母鳥がホテルの庭を駆け回っています。駐車場とか道路わきにいる鶏は人間を恐れませんが、母鳥やひなは警戒心が強く、逃げ去っていきました。
There are many wild chickens everywhere in Kauai. They are not scared of people but hen with chicks is very cautious so run away from me. Wild chicken is a symbol bird of Kauai.

とてもきれいなプールとガーデンを持ったホテルです。ここを最後にカウワイ島に別れを告げ、マウイ島に向かいました。
This hotel has a beautiful garden and pool. I left Kauai and went Maui Island.

カウアイ島（5） サンセットクルーズ Kauai Island (5) Sunset Cruise

昨日走った道の三分の二ほど戻って、ポートアレン（地図11）から、サンセット・クルーズに参加しました。（D)

I went back 2 third distance of same road.From Port Alen (map11) I got a ship of sunset cruising.(D)

このフロアーの上にもう二階あります。本来は、西に走って道のない険しいナ・パリ・コーストを見る予定でしたが、波が荒くて反対方向の南海岸を見ることになりました。残念ですが致し方ありません。予約書類にもそんな記載がありました。
It is the lowest floor of this boat. It has two floor more. Original plan it goes to west and sightseeing of Na Pali Coast, steep shore of no road. But according to high waves it goes to east and see south coast. It is disappointed but contract says the possibility to change the destination because of whether.

ホエール・ウォッチングです。親子のザトウクジラが潮を吹いていました。
We saw whales, mother and child humpback whales spouting.

そしてアオウミガメ。私はハワイ島で触れるほどの距離から見れるので、珍しくもありませんが、米国本土から来た人は大騒ぎでした。
Green turtle. We can touch it in Big island, so it is not rare for me but people from main land were excited.

そして、アザラシ。海を泳いでいるのを見るのはまれだそうです。
A seal. It is rare to see swimming in the sea, guide said.

海岸で仲良く寝そべっている左側がウミガメ、白いハワイアン・モンク・シール（このブログに近くで撮ったし写真があります。非常の珍しく保護されています。）そして普通のアザラシ。
Left side is green turtle, white is Hawaiian Monk Seal( I took pictures of it and posted in this blog. It is endangered species) and common seal. They were resting in same beach friendly.

海岸が険しくなってきます。この赤土はカウアイ島の名物で、この土で染めたシャツをレッド・ダーツ・シャツとして売っています。かつて買ったのですが、洗濯すると色落ちしてほかの洗濯物を染めてしまいます。
Sea shore was becoming high. This red mud is a feature of Kauai Island. And they make T-shirts dyed with this mud named Red Darts Shirt. Once I bought it but when washed it other clothes were dyed red.

潮吹き穴があって、大勢の見物人が集まっていました。（B)

高く険しい崖には割れ目に溶岩が貫入した岩脈（ダイク）が走っているのが見えます。これほど細く長いのを見るのは初めてです。（C)
In the high cliff there are many lava intrusion. It was my first time to see such long slender intrusions.(C)

リフエ空港の前までは、高い崖の海岸で、道路は内陸を走っています。ここで船は引き返します。（C)
Before the Airport of Lihue shore line are high cliff. Road runs inland. Ship turned back here.(C)

そして日没。ディナーとシャンペンが出されました。しかし暗い道をホテル(12)まで40Kmもドライブしなければならないので口をつける程度にしておきました。
Sunset. Dinner and champagne were served. But I have to drive about 25 miles to Hotel(12) on the dark road. so I drunk little of fine champagne.

カウアイ島（4）ワイルア滝 Kauai Island (4) Wailua Fall

北の端から、クルーズに乗るため、来た道をポート・アレン港(地図11)まで戻ります。またまたカパアで渋滞に会いました。リフエから6Km入ったところにワイルアの滝（10）はあります。ヒロのレインボーフォールを一回り大きくしたような滝で、なかなか豪快な滝でした。
To go for a cruise, I went back to Port Allen（map11）. I met a traffic jam again at Kapaa. There is a water fall, Wailua fall(10), 4 miles way off Lifue. It is very dynamic water fall, one size larger than Rainbow Fall at Hilo.

カウアイ島（3） ハエナ Kauai Island(3) Haena

北端の町ハエナ(地図8)には、洞窟が三つあり、これはマニニ・ホロ・ドライケーブで高い垂直な崖に今にも押しつぶされるような間口の広い洞窟です。
The northern end town, Hanae（map8）, has tree big caves. This is Manini Holo drycave. Wide frontage is open and it looks it was crashed soon by high cliff.

天井が垂れ下がってきて、「もうもたない」といった表情です。.
The ceiling is hanging down as if cave says "I cannot tolerate any more'

閉所恐怖症気味の私ですが、勇を鼓して入ってみました。メネフネという小人が悪霊を閉じ込めたという所だけあって、薄気味の悪い場所で早々に出てきました。
このほか、水をたたえたウエット・ケーブが２つあるのですが、駐車場が満車であきらめました。

余談ですが、ホテルでは朝食が取れないので、近くのゴルフ場のテークアウトの店に行きました。
ターキーサンドはすぐわかったのですが、「フルーツ・プレート」がどうしても通じません。書いてくれというので「fruit」と書くと、「オー！フルーツ」と解ってくれました。そこで「イエス！フルーツ」というと
下唇をかんで口をとがらせて「fruit」の発音を教えてくれました。可愛い女性でしたが、「girl」が通じなかった時以来のショックです。
I little bit suffer from Claustrophobia but called up my courage and entered inside, A legend told, Menefes, a dwarf shut the evil spirit up here, because of  weird air, I retired soon. There are two caves filled with water but parking lot was full so I did not visit.

By the way I could not take a breakfast in hotel, I went to shop and ordered turkey sandwich and fruit plate. But a saleslady cannot understand fruit. She asked me to write it so I did. She said "Oh! fruit" so I said "Yes fruit". She taught me how to pronounce "fruit". "bite lower lip and point your lip and say fruit". I guess she heard my "fruit" is "huluts". Charming lady indeed, but I got shock same as I said "girl" but someone could not understand.
Thank you for your patience to try to understand my bad Japanglish.

カウアイ島（2）プリンスヴィル Kauai Island(2) Princeville

カウアイ島は一周する道がありません。西周りの終点カララウ展望台から東回りの北の果てに近い、宿泊地のプリンスヴィル(地図7)まで、直線距離では20Km（6）ちょっとですが、来た道を戻って125km走らなければなりません。そのうえ、ハワイでは珍しい交通渋滞がリフエとカパア（1,9） で起こりました。４５分ぐらいだったでしょうか？東京で渋滞には慣れているはずの私ですがかなりイライラしました。
ホテルを予約したはずでしたが、コンドミニアムで、ソファーを引き出してベッドにするのだと気づくまでにちょっと時間がかかりました。ベッドがないとフロントに文句を言うところでした。
There is no rout in Kauai to go around the island. The end of the west road, observatory of Kararau, to the near the end of the east road, Princeville,（map7） stay to-night, is only 15 miles(6) as the crow flies, but I have to drive 80 miles including going back same road. Besides traffic jam occurred at Lihue and Kapaa.(1,9)

大きなホテルなのにレストランがなく、バールームで軽食で飲むか、タクシーでレストランに行くか、マーケットで食料を仕入れるかという選択肢です。一日で島を一回りし、夕暮れのベランダで、本当においしいお酒を飲みました。
It is big Hotel but no restaurant in it. So tree choice if I want to take dinner, to drink with snack in a barroom, to go some restaurant by taxi or to buy food at supermarket. I took wonderful Maui bear at the bar terrace at twilight.

麻ホテルの庭を散歩していると、向こうからトコトコやってくる鳥は、珍しい保護鳥のネネです。彼らも保護されているという自覚があるのか全く人を恐れません。どんどん近寄ってきて、写真のために立ち止まってくれました。
I took a morning walk in garden, I saw two birds toddling. Those are Nene, Hawaiian symbol bird. They have self-awareness of preservation so do not fear of human. They came closer and stopped to take pose of photo.

半島の向こうは、道がない最果ての地です。風が強い日でした。
Beyond that peninsular is the remotest land with no road. It was a windy morning.

海岸では３人ばかりの人が木の葉や波に打ち上げられたごみを片付けていました。こうやって美しいリゾート地の海岸ができています。

Tree men gathered garbage and leveled the sand by machine. Thus resort beach keeps beautiful.

カウアイ島巡り（1）ワイメア渓谷 Kauai Island (1) Waimea Canyon

今回は２泊でカウアイ島をめぐりました。リフエ空港(地図1)についてから、まず西に向かいました。何とも言えなく心地よいドライブです。

This time I visited Kauai Isl. At first go west from Lihue Air Port.(map1) It was very comfortable drive.

ハナぺぺ渓谷の展望台で、古い火山島に刻まれた谷に驚かされますが、これはほんの走りです。
カウアイ島は、ハワイ諸島の最も北にあり、最も古い島（５００万年～６００万年前にできた）なので、雨の多さも手伝って、非常に浸食がすすんでいます。(地図2）
 At an observatory deck of Hanapepe Valley we are astonished by the great view. But it is the only beginning. Kauai is the north end of the Hawaii Islands. It is the oldest volcanic island ( 500～600 hundred million years old) and has much rain,so it is eroded very much.（Map2)

圧巻は、ワイメア渓谷(3)。細い川が時をかけて巨大な渓谷を作り上げました。(写真をクリックして拡大してください）
The best part is Waimea Valley.(map3) Small river carved great valley for long years.(click photo)

ハワイのグランドキャニオンと言われています。数知れぬ噴火が、薄い層を作り大地を積み上げた跡がはっきり見えます。そして、今度は、水が少しずつ削っていく。大自然の根気の良さに驚嘆します。
It is called "Grand Canyon" of Hawaii. Many thin strata of so many volcano eruptions makes high mountain and water carved a few at a time,next. It makes grand view. Nature is very persevering!!

美しく高い滝が景観に色を添えています。
Beautiful and high water-fall adds a charm point.

そして道路の終点がカララウ展望台(4)。道をつけることができないほどけわしいナ・パリ　コーストの絶景が見れるはずですが・・・・(グーグルパップの写真です。）
The end of the road is the observatory of Kararau valley.(4) If it is fine we can see a magnificent view of Na Pali Coast that is very steep so road can not build,（picture from Google Map)

この状態です。ここまでの快晴からは予想できません。
but I can　see only fog..

少し戻ったコケエ州立公園(5)で昼食。クラブサンドがとても美味でした。

I took lunch at Kokee State Park.(5)　Its sandwich was very delicious.
