ハワイの駆込寺 The place of Refuge

ケアラケクア湾より5キロほど南に行ったところに、プウホヌア・オ・ホナウナウ国立歴史公園があります。ここはハワイの駆込寺(日本の東慶寺、満徳寺は縁切寺で女性がそこに逃げ込むと、離婚や苦界からの逃亡ができた）で、タブー(カプといいます。ハワイでは立ち入り禁止のところにカプKapuと書かれていることがあります）を犯して死刑になる人間や敗残兵などがここに逃げ込むと命が救われたところです。アジールAsylと言ったほうが正確でしょうか？
There is the National Historic Park named Puuhonua o Honaunau about 3 miles south from Kealakekua Bay. It was the place of refuge, asylum, for who broke Taboo(Kapu) and sentenced the death penalty or the soldiers of a defeated army. In Big Island there are many signboard "Kapu" in front of the private land even now, means "off limits".
In Japan there were two famous temples of refuge, Toukei temple and Mantoku temple, for women who wanted to divorce or escape from the prostitute.

紺碧の海と白砂、椰子の林に囲まれた素晴らしい場所です。亀も泳いでいました。
It is wonderful place surrounded by dark blue sea, white sand beach and coconuts grove. We saw turtles swimming.
